Application Instructions

Begin the audition process by filling out the application form by clicking on the button below. This form helps the director learn more about your musical and leadership experiences. If you forget an item or wish to add more content, please email the Band Office at band-office@byu.edu or you may submit the form again.

If you are a senior in high school, please send this recommendation form link to your band director to submit. (Click button below to go to form and then copy the URL)

When you are ready to submit your audition click the button below.
Auditions are due May 1st.

Auditions are required to be submitted as an Unlisted Youtube Video. After recording your audition, you can upload it to youtube in one of the following ways:

Computer

1. Navigate to youtube.com and sign in.
2. Click on the Create button.
3. Upload your audition video file when given the prompt to do so.
4. After the file is finished uploading, on the Details tab, rename your video to your first and last name as well as your instrument/section.
5. On the Details tab, scroll down and select No, it's not made for kids.
6. On the Visibility tab, select Unlisted, NOT Private. If you set your video to Private, we will not receive your audition.
7. After you hit Save, a tab should pop up telling you your video was published. Make sure you copy the URL here and save it in a safe place to upload it when needed in the audition process. If you forget to save the link or lose it, you can always retrieve it by navigating to the video on your profile and copying the URL of the video.

iPhone/iPad/Android

Youtube App

1. Open the YouTube app.
2. Tap Create (+). Select Video at the bottom of the screen.
3. Select the video you would like to upload and tap Next.
4. After the video finishes uploading, under Visibility, select Unlisted, NOT private. If you set your video to Private, we will not receive your audition.
5. Tap Select Audience, and select No, it's not made for kids.
6. Tap Upload.
7. In order to get the link to your video, go to Your Videos, tap the three dots on the side, and hit Copy Link. Save the link somewhere you can access it so that you can upload it when the time comes in the audition process.

Youtube Studio App

1. Open the Youtube Studio app.
2. At the top, tap Create(+).
3. Select the file you would like to upload.
4. Change the Visibility settings to Unlisted.
5. Tap Next.
6. Select "No, it's not made for kids."
7. Tap Upload Video.
